Road Trip with Raghav
I went on this really long road trip from Stanford, CA to Chandler, AZ (750 miles). My dear friend Raghav Kapoor drove till LA. Within the first fifteen miles, Raghav, in his infinite wisdom, overtook a cop car. I pointed it out to him thinking he'd retort with, "Somik, relax, its ok - I know what I'm doing." Instead, he gasped, and within seconds the cop car switched lanes and got behind us with lights flashing. We were pulled over!
I nervously rolled down my window. The cop came over and gave us a tongue lashing for doing 75 when the limit was 65 (it was raining). I passed him my insurance document before he asked for it. Then he asked for my registration. I'm so screwed with all the documents in my life that in that one instant, I didn't think I had any registration document. So I turned to Raghav and asked him, "What's registration?" Unfortunately, Raghav had been trying to discuss the finer points of confused driving on a friend's car and my interruption distracted him. It turned out I didn't have registration proof from the DMV, but it was on my insurance.
The cop came back with a citation. It was our first experience. We both laughed for ages thinking how stupid it was to overtake a cop car, and Raghav made me promise that I would yell out before we committed such dastardly acts in future.
We did have some yummy Japanese food in Shu's hometown, Irvine.

Raghav feeling very happy about his citation

Shu took this one..
